NBA All-Star and Team USA representitive Elton Brand continues to impress us. He’s improved his game every year, made the LA Clippers respectable and stepped up big in the playoffs. And now we learn that Elton’s not only a great power forward but he also is a fan of German cinema verite

Elton is a movie producer on Werner Herzog’s upcoming film Rescue Dawn. The film tells the amazing story of POW Dieter Dengler and his escape from the clutches of the VietCong. If this adaptation is anything as interesting and thrilling as Herzog’s documentary on the subject Littler Dieter Learns to Fly then Elton might have an Oscar (or People’s Choice Award) to add to his trophy shelf.

Maybe Brand’s next film can be about an NBA owner who makes a ton of money off of the backs of black players and Sam Cassell while also being sued by the Department of Justice for allegedly refusing to rent apartments in Beverly Hills and Korea Town to black people.
